Ghilbi AI is completely disgusting.

“we’re exiting the scarcity economy of visuals & entering something weirder—where aesthetics become ambient infrastructure, like wifi.” – Everything is Ghilbi

It his clear that AI has many potential and interesting aspects, but the bluntly way in it is copying other people’s hard creative works for kicks has to stop (be stopped) or we’ll end up with a society without culture, where any emerging cultural production will be unprotected from digital mimicry.

Also worrying is that this pattern of disrespect for others opus/lives is becoming a common practice of OpenAI and Sam Altman. It was Scarlett Johansson’s voice, now it’s the life work of Hayao Miyazaki. Nothing is out of bounds for this company as long as it get’s him in the news.

In the arts world if someone paints something to resemble a Picasso, it is called forgery. Do we need to start defining this AI productions forgeries and make these companies that make them liable to compensations? My inclination is to say Yes. AI is a tool like a pencil and a canvas are tools. That doesn’t mean one can go on painting Picassos without legal repercussions.
